About us
Labour Market Activation (LMA) is a group of specialist companies structured to provide innovatively designed labour market activation programmes, solutions, and stand-alone services.
We provide significant and strategic support in addressing youth unemployment – by partnering closely with government, business, and civil society – to empower unemployed South African youth. We assist young people to find jobs, become economically active, receive relevant and accredited training, and become South Africa’s next generation of entrepreneurs.
We have demonstrated the value that we unlock for all participating stakeholders, through our Employment, Development and Experience Continuum (EDEC®). By employing various government incentives , EDEC helps businesses engage with such incentives that contribute to successful employment and economic prosperity.
Our effective labour market activation, made possible using the innovatively designed EDEC programme, helps the South African youth with the following:
- Secure contract, temporary or permanent employment
- Participate in training and development programmes that help young people access the job market
- Acquire the skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs
Provide independent, stand-alone and expert research, compliance, payroll, accounting, tax and legal services to the programmes, to assure sustainability and impact of the programmes
Our Service Offerings
The LMA Group is structured and operationalised through the well-known Hub and Spoke Model, and rests on one single imperative: aggregating duplicate functions. Our holding company, LMA Core, serves as the Hub – a centralised framework and operational centre, which provides activities that:
- Are scalable to maximise the benefits deriving from reducing unitary costs
- Constitute a critical value driver to ensure specialisation and reach the highest quality standards
- Can be performed as cross-functioning activities or business models
LMA Core thus provides a service centre that delivers low-cost and high-quality services to all other parts of the organisation (the Spokes). The Spokes, in turn, are devoted to adapting the central service provision to the local demand and complement the Hub’s functionalities with activities that are “non-exportable”, for example, due to geographical, regulatory, or operational constraints.
